Why do I need to keep my anti-virus software updated?
The police have a list of wanted criminals which they
use to identify and capture criminals. Similarly, an
anti-virus software keeps a list of black-listed programmes
called signatures. As new viruses are released onto
the Internet, the programmes on the blacklist must also
be constantly updated. Without an updated blacklist
of programmes, new viruses that are not on the blacklist
will not be detected by the anti-virus software. These
new viruses can then infect your computer and cause
damage to the information stored in your computer. The
police cannot identify and apprehend a criminal if they
do not know who the wanted criminal is.
